NICOLA’S GRUELLING BIKE RIDE FOR HEARTSTART
A volunteer instructor for a charity that is teaching lifesaving skills to thousands of people in Herefordshire is to do a fundraising bike ride.
Nicola Stock will embark on a gruelling 350km bike ride in aid of Herefordshire Heartstart and women’s cancer charities in October
Nicky says “In October 2015 I will be cycling 350km across Tanzania over five days from the lower slopes of Kilimanjaro to the Ngorogoro Crater. The first four days will involve cycling between 60 and 100km, with the last day being an ‘easy’ 40km.
I’ll be crossing three national parks with a good chance of seeing a wide range of wildlife normally only seen on safari, though hopefully they won’t come too close to my tent when I’m camping overnight!
The training is coming along well, though I have to say I much prefer cycling around the local Herefordshire lanes or in the Forest of Dean when I’m at home, rather than doing repetitive 2 mile laps on the concrete perimeter road at work.
I’m looking forward to the ride, though I know it’s going to be difficult at times. I’m hoping that it will all be worth it with some funds raised for Herefordshire Heartstart and women’s cancer charities. As I’m a volunteer instructor with Herefordshire Heartstart it seemed an obvious choice to use the bike ride as a fundraiser to support Herefordshire Heartstart who support communities locally.””
This is the second time that Nicola has done a sponsored event for the charity. In 2013, she did the 200 mile coast-to-coast wainwright walk and raised over £900 for the charity.
