Herefordshire Heartstart would like to thank the Mad Sat Raft Team for the £166 donation raised at the mad-dash raft race in July.

Rafts, paddles and buoyancy aids were supplied to teams entering the race. Many teams entered and raced down the river from the Hereford Rowing Club to the railway bridge and back. The event was sponsored by the Family Furnishers Ltd (Furnishers warehouse).

Money raised during from the event, was distributed between Herefordshire Heartstart, St Michaels Hospice and the Guide Dogs Association.

Loraine Coleman, Co-ordinator/Project Manager for the charity said “We are very grateful for the support given by the public who took part in this event, the Mad Sat Raft Team for organising it, the Hereford Rowing Club and to Family Furnishers Ltd who sponsored the event.”

“As a small local charity Herefordshire Heartstart relies on donations, fundraising and small grants to keep this service running. Every penny matters as it allows the charity to keep running free two hour Heartstart how to save a life courses across Herefordshire, so that more lives can potentially be saved.”

“Donations are essential and help to cover the ongoing costs of running the courses, eg replacement parts for manikins, lungs, wipes, projection equipment, course paperwork, volunteer mileage, phone line/calls, broadband etc.”

Herefordshire Heartstart runs free Heartstart how to save a life courses and offers these to the public, groups, voluntary organisations, businesses and schools across Herefordshire.

The two hour courses teaches members of the public essential skills to keep someone alive until the emergency services arrive. The course teaches how to deal with an unconscious casualty, heart attack, serious bleeding, choking and CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation).

If you can support the charity by organising a fundraising event or would like to offer a personal donation or business sponsorship to support the charity, please contact the Co-ordinator/Project Manager Loraine Coleman.
