JANET POWELL – NEW TRUSTEE FOR

HEREFORDSHIRE HEARTSTART

Janet Powell has recently joined Herefordshire Heartstart as a volunteer Trustee.

Herefordshire Heartstart is a local charity, (registered charity number 1082309) supporting the people of Herefordshire with free Heartstart how to save a life courses.

Janet who lives near to Ross on Wye, has lived in Herefordshire for the past 15 year. She joins the board of Trustees after a 35 year business career, including wide international experience with Xerox and Delphi Corporation.

Most recently Janet was the Vice President of Information Technology for a large Division of Delphi Corporation.

Janet says “I am excited to be part of a local charitable organisation which serves our locality and has the potential to make a real difference to individuals by teaching one of the most important skills – how to save a life.”

Loraine Coleman, Co-ordinator/Project Manager for the charity, said “I am delighted to welcome Janet aboard as a Trustee. I am confident that she will make a valuable contribution to the charity with her wealth of business experience. I would like to wish Janet a long and happy association with the Charity.”

Janet is keen to help support the Co-ordinator and will assist in promoting the charity at local networking or business events.

NOTES TO EDITOR:-

Courses are held throughout the county for various groups, organisations, businesses, other voluntary organisations and charities, including St Michaels Hospice, Homestart and Hereford Community Farm etc. Public courses are also held in various venues across the county.   The Charity also delivers Instructor training to schools staff to enable them to teach the skills to their pupils.

Anyone can attend a free two hour Heartstart course, or can book a course for their group, business or voluntary organisation.

At a two hour course they will learn how to perform:- rescue breaths and chest compressions (CPR), as well as dealing with an unconscious casualty, choking, serious bleeding and heart attack. These are simple skills that can and do save lives.
