PRESS RELEASE

CLIVE EDWARDS – NEW TRUSTEE FOR

HEREFORDSHIRE HEARTSTART

Clive Edwards has recently joined the Board of Trustees of Herefordshire Heartstart as a volunteer Trustee.

Herefordshire Heartstart is a truly local charity/voluntary organisation, (registered charity number 1082309), that delivers free Heartstart how to save a life courses to the people of Herefordshire.

Clive moved to Herefordshire over 40 years ago and served as a Police Officer for over thirty years. He covered the county, as well as parts of Worcestershire and Shropshire.

Clive went on to become a Trainer of new Officers, before eventually ending service when he was responsible for Policing at Ledbury.

Clive went on to become a St Johns Wales First Aid Instructor.   For many years Clive has also been a volunteer Instructor for Herefordshire Heartstart.

Since retirement, Clive has worked as a transport coordinator and driver for another charity, which has included Health and Safety responsibilities.

Clive joins the Herefordshire Heartstart Board of Trustees and hopes to help support the Co-ordinator/Project Manager, by doing follow up observations of new volunteer Instructors, after they have completed Instructor Training with the Community Training Supervisor. Clive also plans to offer updates on health and safety matters relevant to the organisation.

Loraine Coleman, Co-ordinator/Project Manager for the charity, said “I am really pleased to welcome Clive to the Board of Trustees and look forward to Clive’s support and a continued long, happy association with the Charity.”

NOTES TO EDITOR:-

Courses are held across the county, which includes public course that anyone can attend. We also run courses for other voluntary organisations, charities, businesses, various groups, including Taste for Adventure, walk leaders, guides, scouts, local Colleges etc.

The Charity also delivers Instructor training to schools staff to enable them to teach the skills to their pupils.

At a two hour course they will learn how to perform:- rescue breaths and chest compressions (CPR), as well as dealing with an unconscious casualty, choking, serious bleeding and heart attack. These are simple skills that can and do save lives.
