PRESS RELEASE
Another Heartstart Lifesaver recognised for her actions
Another Heartstart attendee has been recognised for her actions in helping to save a life. Christine Price from Hereford, was out walking when she heard someone shouting for help, she ran over to find that a man had collapsed and was unconscious, following a heroin overdose.
Finding a man suffering from a heroin overdose must have been a stressful experience. She calmly took charge of the situation opening the patient’s airway, putting him into the recovery position, and staying with him until the paramedics arrived.
Loraine Coleman Co-ordinator/Project Manager from Herefordshire Heartstart said “We were very proud to hear that Christine had used the skills learnt at a Heartstart course. I am sure that this man and his friend are very grateful that Christine was there and knew what to do in an emergency.
We hope that this story will help to inspire others to learn these life-saving skills so that they would also have the confidence to step in and help in an emergency to save someone in need, a friend or loved one.”
Loraine Coleman and Dr John Ballance (Medical Director/Chairman) from Herefordshire Heartstart can be seen presenting Christine with Certificates of Achievement from Herefordshire Heartstart and the British Heart Foundation, in recognition of her actions when dealing with this emergency. Her confidence in using the Emergency Life Support skills demonstrates how useful the Heartstart course can be.
