PRESS RELEASE

NEW PROJECTION EQUIPMENT FOR

HEARTSTART SCHOOLS TRAINING PROGRAMME

Written by Loraine Coleman, Herefordshire Heartstart

Herefordshire Heartstart were delighted to receive a grant for £350 from the British Heart Foundation to purchase a new set of projection equipment, which included a projector, dvd player, speakers and cables specifically for the Schools Heartstart Project.

This will enable the two Instructors who deliver training to Schools to use the excellent British Heart Foundation training DVD Ordinary Day aimed at schoolchildren and used specifically for teaching emergency life support skills.

This forms part of the British Heart Foundation Schools Heartstart programme to deliver How to save a life courses to schoolchildren.

Staff from schools all over Herefordshire attend free full day Instructor Training and half day requalification courses with Herefordshire Heartstart to enable them to deliver Heartstart skills to their pupils.   By training schools staff, thousands of schoolchildren in Herefordshire can benefit from this vital training and can potentially go on to save a life.

Staff are taught how to deliver Heartstart training and what to do in a life threatening emergency.  They will be taught how to: help someone who is unconscious, deal with choking, serious bleeding, heart attack and how to perform CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) to then go back to the classroom to deliver the lessons to their pupils.

To book a course for your school staff or for more information on the Heartstart Schools project or on community Heartstart courses:- visit www.herefordshireheartstart.org, or email info@herefordshireheartstart.org or contact the Co-ordinator/Project Manager Loraine Coleman on 0845 60 60 654 (Monday to Thursday 9am to 12.45pm.
