PRESS RELEASE – FIVE NEW VOLUNTEER HEARTSTART INSTRUCTORS TRAINED
Five new Heartstart instructors have recently completed Heartstart Instructor training to enable them to deliver two hour Heartstart courses on behalf of Herefordshire Heartstart.
The new volunteers joined the team this year and have been helping at courses to give them more experience of how the courses are run. The training is the next step in their training programme and they will continue to work alongside established volunteer Instructors.
They will start to deliver short sections of the course, as part of a team of volunteer instructors, who regularly deliver Heartstart How to save a life Courses each month.
Heartstart teaches members of the public how to save a life, at free two hour Heartstart Courses. Courses are offered at public courses and to various groups throughout Herefordshire.
At the free two hour courses people learn how to keep someone alive until the emergency services arrive, ie dealing with a conscious casualty, an unconscious casualty (recovery position), how to deal with heart attack, choking, serious bleeding and CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation).
Instructors are trained by Jayne Jenkins, Resuscitation Officer from the County Hospital, as part of her volunteering support for Herefordshire Heartstart.
Volunteers come from all walks of life, with the same common goal in mind to help save lives. Could you help at our FREE two hour courses to enable us to pass on these essential skills to people in your community? Could you volunteer from home to support the charity?
Are you over 18? Do you drive? If you are friendly, energetic, with excellent communications, administrative and interpersonal skills and can work as part of a team, with time to spare we would love to hear from you.
Teaching or training experience, with up to date First Aid knowledge would be useful. Other volunteers are also needed to support the charity including course helpers and new Trustees. We are also in need of a new volunteer Minutes Secretary for three evening meetings each year.
If you feel you’ve got what it takes to be a volunteer or could help our charity in any other way, then please get in touch. We will train you to help at courses, support you and pay your mileage expenses.
