PRESS RELEASE
By Loraine Coleman, Herefordshire Heartstart
Herefordshire Heartstart would like to thank the customers and staff at Morrisons, Hereford for their kind generosity and support. The amount of £213.40 was collected from our fundraising collection on Saturday 28th January 2014
10 Volunteers from the charity were on hand throughout the day with collecting boxes to raise funds for the Charity. A few volunteers were able to do bag packing for delighted customers.
Volunteers were also there to talk about the free Heartstart How to save a life courses run throughout Herefordshire.
The money raised will be used to help us to continue delivering Heartstart training to schools staff in Herefordshire. This means that pupils in Heartstart affiliated schools will be able to continue learning these vital lifesaving skills, but more money is still needed.
Funding for the Schools Project from the British Heart Foundation ran out on 31/1/12 as it was a time limited project.
We are still seeking alternative sources of funding to keep this vital schools training running, so that thousands more schoolchildren can continue to be trained. If you would like to make a donation or to help with fundraising, please contact the Co-ordinator/Project Manager.
Through the Schools Project even the youngest children in the school can learn the basics of where the live and how to make an emergency call. As they get older they can progress through the staged, age related programme of lifesaving skills, to deal with unconsciousness, choking, serious bleeding, heart attack, and CPR. By the time they reach 10 they can do the complete Heartstart course.
The two hour Community Heartstart courses are open to anyone from the age of 10 upwards. For more information, visit www.herefordshireheartstart.org or email info@herefordshireheartstart.org or contact the Co-ordinator/Project Manager Loraine Coleman on 0845 60 60 654 (Mon to Thurs 9am to 12.45pm)
Herefordshire Heartstart is a registered charity (no 1082309) – donations important
Notes to Editor
Heartstart is a local initiative supported by the British Heart Foundation however we do not receive any funding from them, nor the government to run our scheme. We rely on donations and grants to keep this vital service running to benefit the people of Herefordshire.
